The Poky Little Puppy Project

Poky is the only actual finished component of this grand project, that was originally intended to be a highly detailed sculpture to grace the tops of monitors of the core goldenbooks.com Web Development Team.

The finsihed project was to be about 10 inches wide, over 4 inches high and about 3-4 inches deep. The concept was to have a cross section of an open goldenbook atop the computer. Sitting across the pages was to be the Golden Books script-logo cutout. "Goldie", the trademark 'g', was to stand behind the logo, holding his book, in the center crest of the open pages. The ".com" was to hang suspended beneath the book, actually in front of the monitor itself.

Two characters were to grace the right and left sides of the open book. One being The Poky Little Puppy and the other being Pat the Bunny, the two most noteworthy Classic Golden Book Characters.

Most of the pieces were sculpted and carved. Some of the molds were created but the project was never seen through to the end. As this was not a company funded endeavor, time and resources wore thin and the project was scaled down to a sole Poky. Onle a few were actally molded, painted and distributed. Shown here is artist proof #1, which is not even as nice as some of it's successors.

Remnants of the original contruction: A sculped book, to be sliced to a about 4" deep, Goldie, the book and her molds, the original Golden Books cutout and a subsequent retooling, the .com and various extra pieces.
